He is named in the catalog of guard misconduct laid out in the J6 detainees' habeas corpus petition. According to that petition (¶77), Cpl. Dandy "regularly used racial slurs" toward detainees and was suspended after telling fellow detainee Scott Fairlamb, "Suck my dick, White-boy." The same petition (¶78) alleges that Capt. Saunders was present and "covered for Dandy." Ryan's contemporaneous jail log corroborates the discipline: on February 17, 2022, he recorded that Officer Dandy was "suspended 7 days by Major Marr." These are allegations drawn from a habeas corpus petition and from Ryan's own daily record kept inside the facility. They are reproduced here, alongside the underlying scans, as part of the public record of how January 6 detainees were treated in custody.

Charged in connection with the events of January 6, 2021 and held in pretrial detention across ten federal and local facilities, where a federal judge acknowledged on the record that his due-process rights had been violated. He pled guilty in November 2023 to two felonies and on May 2, 2024 was sentenced to 63 months in federal prison and a $200,000 fine. On January 20, 2025 he was granted a full and unconditional pardon by President Donald J. Trump, and the case was then dismissed with prejudice. Ryan maintains the prosecution was government entrapment and lawfare.
