The election is over. The bills start Monday. Now we find out who Austin really works for.

Plain English Summary

Texas held its general election on November 3, 2026. The ballots are counted. The yard signs are coming down.

But the real work does not happen on Election Day. It happens on paper. Starting Monday, November 9, lawmakers can begin prefiling bills for the 90th Texas Legislature. Session opens January 12, 2027.

Those bills are the receipts. They show what every representative actually plans to do with the power you just handed them.

I am asking East Texas to watch them. Every one.

Why It Matters

FACT: Texas House and Senate rules allow legislators to prefile bills "beginning the first Monday after the general election preceding the next regular legislative session." That is House Rule 8, Section 7 and Senate Rule 7.04(a), as cited by the Texas Legislative Reference Library. Source

FACT: Last cycle, 1,511 bills and resolutions were filed on the very first day of prefiling. The library called it a record. Source

Fifteen hundred bills. One day.

Nobody in Longview reads fifteen hundred bills. That is exactly what the powers that be are counting on.

Volume is a hiding place. The bill that takes a right from you does not come with a siren. It comes buried in a stack, with a boring title, filed in November while you are getting ready for Thanksgiving.

The Receipt

FACT: Texas House District 7 is represented by Jay Dean, a Republican from Longview, in office since 2017. Texas Tribune | Ballotpedia

FACT: In the March 3, 2026 Republican primary, Dean won with 54.9 percent of the vote. Ballotpedia

DOCUMENTED INFERENCE: Unofficial November 3 results reported by Ballotpedia show Dean winning the general election with about 67 percent. Those totals are not certified yet. The official count belongs to the Texas Secretary of State. Ballotpedia | Texas SOS

FACT: The 90th Legislature calendar lists prefiling beginning November 9, 2026, opening day January 12, 2027, the last day to file bills March 12, 2027, and sine die May 31, 2027. Texas Policy Research

That is the clock. Mark it down.

What Ryan Says

RYAN STATEMENT: It has been an honor to serve East Texas in any capacity. I am ready to take on Austin and the powers that be to restore our rights here in HD7.

RYAN STATEMENT: For a long time I thought all the persecution and suffering was for nothing. About six months ago I started seeing God line up a bigger plan than anything I could have drawn up myself. I have learned to look for the good in the bad.

RYAN STATEMENT: The people who hold power are not going to hand it back on their own. The answer is not anger. The answer is staying calm, staying peaceful, and using our words to move people in the right direction.

Here is what that looks like in real life.

You do not need a law degree to read a bill title. You do not need a lobbyist to check who filed it. Texas Legislature Online is free. The bill text is public. The votes are public.

Power goes back to the people the same way it left. One document at a time.

What This Does Not Prove

This article does not say any specific bill is bad. Nothing has been filed for the 90th session yet.

It does not accuse Representative Dean or any other official of wrongdoing.

It does not say the November results are final. They are unofficial until certified.

What It Does Prove

The calendar is public. The rules are public. The bills will be public.

The only thing missing is eyes.

Last cycle proved the filing wave is real and it is fast. If East Texas waits until May to start paying attention, the fight is already over.

The Bottom Line

Elections pick the people. Bills show the plan. Votes show the truth.

Starting Monday, read what they file. Ask who it helps. Ask who it costs. Ask whether it gives power back to the people or takes more of it to Austin.

Stay calm. Stay peaceful. Stay on the record.

This is the record. And the record does not lie.

Do not threaten anyone. Do not harass anyone. Do not contact anyone in my name. Read it. Share it. Send receipts, evidence, witnesses. Put eyes on the record.

You made it to the end

Most people quit at the headline. You didn’t.
