We Built Twelve Free Tools For People Who May Never Pay Us a Dime

There is a school in Longview, Texas that trains dental assistants.

I build the platform it runs on.

Not the flyer. Not the logo. The actual system. The website, the enrollment, the training software the students practice on, and a shelf of free tools anybody in East Texas can open right now without paying a dollar or even handing over an email address.

That last part is the one I want to talk about.

The wall is almost never the tuition

When you build for a school, the easy assumption is that money is the obstacle.

It is not. Or at least it is not the only one.

Talk to enough people who want a career change and the real walls show up fast.

Who watches my kids while I am in class.

What do I tell my husband.

Can I even do this, or am I too far behind.

Is this a real thing, or is it one more program that takes my money and disappears.

You cannot answer any of that with a tuition page. A tuition page answers a question they were not asking.

So we built the answers instead

Premier Dental Academy of Longview runs a twelve week Registered Dental Assistant program. In person at the Longview campus, or online.

But before anybody ever sees a checkout page, there is a shelf of free tools on that site. No signup. No card. No sales call.

A funding finder that shows what WIOA money through Workforce Solutions East Texas might cover.

A take home pay tool that gives the real number after taxes with a monthly budget sitting right next to it, so you can see whether the math actually works for your family.

A schedule planner where you tap the hours you could realistically study and it tells you how fast you would finish around a job and kids.

An interview prep tool with the real questions offices ask.

A free RDA practice exam with instant explanations and a breakdown of exactly what to study next.

A first thirty days checklist for surviving your first month in a real office.

A family talk tool. Actual talking points for the kitchen table conversation with the person who is going to have to cover more while you are in school.

And a resource hub for the hard stuff. Childcare, food, bills, somebody to talk to.

Most of the people who open those will never enroll.

We built them anyway.

Why that is not charity

I am not going to pretend this is pure generosity, because it is not, and I do not do fake humble.

It is the best business decision on the whole site.

Here is why.

Somebody who sits down and works out their own take home pay, their own study schedule, their own funding, and then has the conversation with their family, is not a lead anymore. They are a person who already made the decision. Enrollment is paperwork at that point.

And the ones who decide it is not for them right now leave with something real instead of a bad taste. Some of them come back a year later. Some of them send their cousin.

You do not lose by helping somebody honestly.

The numbers on the wall

More than eighty five percent of graduates are working in East Texas dental offices, a lot of them with offers inside their graduation week or within thirty days.

Average RDA starting pay in East Texas runs thirty six to forty four thousand.

About seventy percent of students walk in with no dental background at all.

Students come from Longview, Tyler, Marshall, Kilgore, Henderson and Gladewater.

There is also a Sponsor a Student program where local businesses cover part or all of somebody's seat. Like an angel tree for careers. The business gets another trained assistant in the local labor pool. The student gets a different life. East Texas gets both.

Why this one is on the ledger

I keep a comeback ledger on this site. Things I am building, instead of things that were done to me.

This one belongs on it for a specific reason.

I spent years in a place where nobody was building anything for me. Where the systems were hard to use on purpose. Where information was the thing they kept from you.

So when I get to build the opposite, I take it seriously.

A woman in Longview working a job she is tired of should be able to open a page on her phone at eleven at night and find out honestly whether she can do this. What it costs. What she would make. Whether it fits. What to say to her family.

She should not have to call anybody to find that out.

That is a small thing to build. It is not a small thing to receive.
