I spent years asking to see documents I was told existed and was not allowed to look at.

Then I went and built a marketplace where you can see every dollar before you sell a thing.

That is not a coincidence.

Let me be straight with you before I describe it, because I do not do hype. It is a demo build right now. The listings on it are demo listings. I am not going to stand here and tell you it is a billion dollar marketplace with a warehouse in every state.

What it is, is built. The fee engine works. The seller tools are in there. It runs.

I would rather show you a real thing at an early stage than a fake thing at a fake stage.

The one number that made me build it

Most marketplaces take a double digit cut of your sale and blend it into a single number so you never see the pieces.

Gideon charges a flat 1 percent platform fee on the item subtotal of a completed sale.

Everything else is its own line. Payment processing. Shipping. Tax. Any optional service you turned on yourself. Nothing gets blended into a mystery rate. The free seller plan is zero a month.

There are whole categories with no sale fee at all. Services, vehicles, real estate, digital products. Those are lead only. You get the inquiry. Nobody takes a slice of a deal we did not handle.

Why a man like me cares this much about a fee schedule

Because a hidden number and hidden evidence are the same disease.

Somebody knows the real figure. It is not you. And every time you ask, you get a policy page instead of an answer.

I know what that feels like in a courtroom. I know what it feels like on a payout screen too. I have been on the seller side since 2015 with Wholesale Universe. You do the sourcing. You take the photos. You write the listing. You eat the return. Then a platform that did none of that takes the biggest single cut of the sale and calls it a service.

So when I finally got to build one, the first decision was not the logo.

It was this. Every cost is a visible line item, and the seller sees the net payout before they ever hit publish.

What is actually in it

It is not just a place to list. There is an operating system attached.

A profit calculator that shows platform fee, processing, shipping, tax, and net payout before you list.

An AI listing builder that turns a photo and a few words into a title, description, bullets, and a price range, and you approve it before it publishes. The machine drafts. The human decides.

Local pickup for bulky goods, with pickup codes and QR confirmation, so nobody has to argue about whether the handoff happened.

Shipping rates passed through and never marked up.

Auctions and offers. Branded storefronts with a verification badge.

Liquidation manifests, where you upload the lot, grade it, and get an estimated margin before you buy it.

Cross listing export to CSV mapped for eBay, Shopify, and Facebook Marketplace. That one is free.

The rules I built into the building

Restricted categories are blocked.

Vehicles and real estate are inquiry only. No checkout on either one.

High ticket listings get manual review and enhanced verification.

Sellers verify identity before they publish.

Risky admin actions are logged. Including mine.

That last one matters most to me. I have watched what happens when the only people who can see the system are the people running it. So I built the referee into the building on purpose.

Where this sits in the ledger

A few years back, people wrote my ending for me. Confidently. In public.

Here is the next line in the ledger. A marketplace, built from nothing, that hands the seller the real math before the sale instead of after it.
