Recorded Friday morning, October 9, 2026, on Lake O' the Pines.

"Go ahead, Dad, you grab it. I'm gonna film."

That's how my morning started.

Sunrise on Lake O' the Pines. Me and my dad in the boat, running jug lines.

Two cameras on the boat. A GoPro down low on the side, my phone in my hand. You see the same catch from both angles.

The splash

Dad pulls the line. The water blows up. A catfish comes up fighting at the side of the boat.

"There we go."

"Pretty good catfish right there."

Keep him or not

"You want to keep him?"

"Oh no, unless you want to keep him."

"No, I'm not trying to keep him right now."

So back in the water he goes.

Fork in the tail

"That's a big channel cat."

"See that fork in that tail? Fork in the tail means he's a channel cat."

That's the tell. A channel cat's tail is deeply forked. A flathead's tail is squared off.

Back to work

"Now we got to find these jugs."

That's a good morning. Sunrise on the water, my dad, and a big channel cat.
