Jail Is Still the Top Word People Search on My Site
The top word typed into my site search is jail. The pardon closed the case, not the search box. On the road back I build next to the record, not over it.

I built a search box into my own site so I could see what people come here looking for.
The number one word typed into it over the last thirty days is jail.
Not rebuilding. Not faith. Not systems.
Jail.
Selected site searches, distinct visitors, last 30 days

I do not know who typed it or why. The log counts words, not people's reasons.
But I know what it means that it sits at the top of a site with my name on it.
The part of the road you cannot repave
The pardon closed the case.
It did not close the search box.
That is the part of the road back nobody puts on a poster. The bottom does not disappear when you climb out of it. It stays on the map. People can still drive out and look at it.
For a while I thought the job was to bury it. Push it down. Outrank it. Make it go away.
You cannot make it go away. And I quit wanting to.
Build next to it, not over it
Here is the rule I run now.
I do not repave the bottom. I build next to it.
Every day something new goes up beside the old record. A reflection. A lesson on how I build. A piece of work for a client with the receipts attached.
So when somebody types jail, they find it. And then they find what came after.
The record gets company.
Why I would rather it be this way
A man who hides his bottom has to keep hiding it. That is a full-time job and it pays nothing.
A man who leaves it in plain view only has one job left. Keep building.
Rebuilding showed up on that same list. Three people typed it. Smaller than jail, for now.
That is fine. Somebody had to search the hard word to find the one that comes after it.
If you are on your own road back, stop spending your strength trying to erase where you were.
Spend it on what you put next to it.
Sharing this is the biggest help. Put it in front of one more person.
You made it to the end
Most people quit at the headline. You didn’t.
So don’t stop here. Pick one.
