Jeffrey McKellop is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces soldier — a Green Beret from Fishersville, Virginia, who gave his country more than 20 years in uniform. FACT: McKellop served with the 3rd Special Forces Group, retired from the Army in 2010 at Fort Bragg after more than two decades of service, and is a three-time Bronze Star recipient. After the Army he worked as a military contractor. THEIR ACCOUNT: his service ran through Bosnia, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa and beyond — Airborne Ranger, 2nd Ranger Battalion, then Special Forces. When his photo circulated after January 6, Jeffrey McKellop says he picked up the phone and turned himself in to the FBI. THEIR ACCOUNT: he had never been arrested before in his life. FACT: McKellop was arrested in March 2021 and charged with 16 felony counts. He was held in pretrial detention for years — one of the longest pretrial holds of any January 6 defendant — while his trial was delayed repeatedly. THEIR ACCOUNT: in the D.C. jail he endured 23-hour lockdowns and lost nearly everything he owned while he sat inside — his home, vehicle, retirement savings. FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump's clemency proclamation ended the January 6 prosecutions. THEIR ACCOUNT (via his support page): Jeffrey McKellop received a full pardon. Today he tells his own story in interviews and is rebuilding his life after four years behind bars. CASE RECORD — U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
