A Marine, a flood rescuer, a J6 target — and this week I'm asking for help.

Ryan Nichols — Marine, Hurricane Harvey rescuer, and January 6 defendant

Before I ask you for anything, let me tell you who's asking.

I'm Ryan Nichols. I served in the United States Marine Corps. I built a business with my own two hands. And when Hurricane Harvey drowned Houston, I didn't watch it on TV — I took a boat into the floodwater and pulled my neighbors out of their homes. Search and rescue. That's who I am when people are in trouble: I show up.

Then January 6th happened, and the government decided to make an example of me.

What they did to me. I was held in pretrial detention — locked up before any conviction, far too long, under conditions that were called out from the bench. In December 2021, a federal judge stated on the record that my due process rights had been violated. I stayed in anyway. I was eventually pardoned and my charges were dismissed with prejudice — the case can never be brought against me again. But they don't give you back the time, the health, or what they took from your family.

What I did with it. I could have gone quiet. Instead I used what I have left — investigation, building, and the ability to get attention — to tell the truth:

  • When the DOJ quietly scrubbed its own Capitol Breach Cases page, I salvaged it from the Wayback Machine. realryannichols.com is now the only public mirror of all 1,092 defendants on that list. They tried to make it disappear; I made it permanent.
  • I was detained alongside other J6 defendants and heard things firsthand — like George Tanios telling investigators his codefendant did what he was accused of. Tanios pleaded and walked. His codefendant did 80 months. I put it on the record.
  • I built The Receipts Wall — every threat and "you deserve life in prison" comment X let stay up against me in 24 hours, right next to the jokes they banned me for.
  • I'm building a free profile for every single January 6 defendant — theirs to own, forever, that no platform can throttle and no algorithm can bury.

I've been right, I've been early, and I've done it while rebuilding from less than zero.

Now I'm asking for help — and I want to be clear what kind.

This is not a handout. I'm asking you to fund work that gives back. Every dollar lets me keep investigating, keep building, and keep bringing awareness and attention to information that helps so many people — other defendants, their families, and anyone who wants the truth the institutions buried.

This week my payment to Anthropic for Claude failed. The AI tools I build with — Claude, Codex, ChatGPT — are how I do this work now. Without them I've got nothing to fight with. And rent is due in a week.

If any of this matters to you:

$5 · $25 · $50 · $75 · $100 · $250 · $500 — even $1,000 if you're able.

Every dollar comes straight to me — no organization, no middleman. Donate here → realryannichols.com/support

And if you'd rather I earn it — hire me. I'll build you a site like this one, run an investigation, put a record together — whatever I know how to do. I'd rather work for it than ask for it.

I served this country. I pulled people out of the water. They tried to bury me, and I'm still standing — still telling the truth. I just need a hand to keep going.
