Zachariah John Sattler is a Chestertown man off Maryland's Eastern Shore, in Kent County. The government's own cameras caught him praying. WHAT THE RECORD SHOWS [FACT] Reporting from court documents by Fox Baltimore states that Capitol security footage shows Zachariah Sattler praying in front of the Nebraska statue in Statuary Hall. Read that again. The surveillance system the government built to catch people caught a man with his head bowed in a room full of statues. [FACT] The same reporting describes him walking the halls of the building. It does not describe him fighting anyone. THE LEGAL FIGHT [FACT] Federal authorities did not receive a tip about Sattler until September 2022, nearly two years after January 6. [FACT] The complaint was filed December 2, 2022. He was arrested December 13, 2022. [NEEDS AUTHENTICATION] Law and Crime reported that Sattler later pleaded guilty. This archive has not yet confirmed the specific count of conviction or the sentence from the docket. If you have the judgment, send it. [FACT] On January 20, 2025 the President issued a proclamation granting full, complete and unconditional pardons to individuals convicted of offenses related to the events at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, and directing dismissal of pending indictments. Sattler's case falls within that grant. CBS Baltimore reported that dozens of Marylanders charged in connection with January 6 were covered by the clemency. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE The reporting reviewed for this profile describes trespass-level allegations. No assault charge appears in it. No weapons charge appears in it. Charges are charges, and a plea to a misdemeanor is not proof of anything beyond that misdemeanor. WHAT IS STILL MISSING Zachariah Sattler's trade, his service record if he has one, and his family are not in the public reporting. This archive wants the rest of the story from the people who know him.
