William Stephon Kit
Pardoned January 6 defendant
Documented editorial-use imageWilliam Stephon Kit is a Washington, D.C. man and an independent video creator who publishes under the name Semore Views. Forty-six years old. He filmed his own life and put it out himself, on his own channel, under his own handle. He is also, in his own public words, a Black Trump supporter who described himself as representing "the smallest demographic of Trump supporters." He said that out loud, on camera, in a city where it cost him something to say it. ## Who he is William Stephon Kit built an audience himself. Not rented from a platform's algorithm, not handed to him by a network. He published as Semore Views. Every J6 defendant who owns his own channel owns his own story, and Kit owned his. ## The legal fight Law enforcement first contacted William Kit on January 8, 2021, two days after January 6. He acknowledged that he had gone inside the building. Then nothing happened for more than a year and a half. He was arrested on August 1, 2022. He was charged with entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, and with attempted carrying a pistol without a license outside a home or place of business under D.C. law. He pleaded guilty to both counts. On May 17, 2023, the court sentenced him to 30 days of incarceration, 12 months of supervised release, 40 hours of community service, a $75 special assessment, and $500 in restitution. Thirty days. ## Clemency On January 20, 2025, William Stephon Kit received a full pardon under the presidential proclamation covering January 6 convictions. ## What the record shows and what it does not CHARGE ONLY, and read it carefully: the firearm-related count was ATTEMPTED carrying a pistol without a license. Attempted carrying without a license is a licensing offense. The record does not say he drew a weapon. It does not say he pointed one. It does not say he brandished one. It does not say he fired one. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not reading the docket. FACT: he was convicted of two counts and sentenced to 30 days. FACT: he cooperated with the first law enforcement contact two days after January 6 and was not arrested for another 19 months. ## Case record - Case: 1:22-cr-306, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia - Arrest: August 1, 2022 - Plea: Guilty, two counts - Sentence: 30 days incarceration, 12 months supervised release, 40 hours community service, $500 restitution, May 17, 2023 - Clemency: Full pardon, January 20, 2025 This profile is unclaimed.
