William Glynn Keen is a Louisville, Kentucky man who walked into January 6, 2021 with a cellphone in his hand and walked out holding a piece of the historical record. FACT: William Glynn Keen recorded the shooting of Ashli Babbitt near the Speaker's Lobby on his cellphone. That is not a rumor. It is in the sworn statement of facts filed in his own federal case. FACT: An FBI agent interviewed him on January 15, 2021, nine days after January 6, after seeing a report about him on a Louisville local news station. He answered their questions. COURT RECORD, HIS OWN WORDS: According to the statement of facts, Keen told the agent he made a card that read "press," taped it to the black leather coat he wore that day, and acknowledged he had no affiliation with any news outlet. He said he entered the Capitol without resistance. FACT: William Keen was arrested on January 10, 2023, in New Albany, Indiana. FACT: He was charged with four counts. All four were misdemeanor or petty offenses. There is no allegation of violence, no assault, no weapon, no theft, no conspiracy, and no property damage in his case. FACT: He pleaded guilty to exactly one count, the petty offense of Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other three charges were dismissed. FACT: On January 10, 2024, he was sentenced to 18 months of probation, $500 restitution, and a $10 special assessment. No prison time.
