William Gallagher is 55 and lives in the Ellijay area of North Georgia. His sons, Thomas and James Gallagher, went with him to Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, and all three ended up in the Capitol together, then all three ended up on the same federal case three years later. When FBI agents showed up at his door in May 2024, William Gallagher did not run and did not fight it. He met them and said, "I've been waiting for you guys." All three Gallaghers pleaded not guilty and prepared to fight the charges in court. They never had to. On January 22, 2025, two days after President Trump's clemency proclamation, the government moved to dismiss the case against William Gallagher and his sons with prejudice. A father and two sons who stood by each other through a federal case walked out the other side of it as a family, with no conviction on any of their records. CASE RECORD No case number on file. U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Charged 5/6/24 with civil disorder, assaulting/resisting officers, and related misdemeanors (William); misdemeanor counts (sons Thomas and James). Pleaded not guilty. Case dismissed with prejudice, 1/22/25, following presidential clemency.
