Uliyahu Hayah
January 6 defendant
Documented editorial-use imageUliyahu Hayah is a Silver Spring, Maryland man, and his presence in this archive quietly breaks the story most people have been told about January 6. NEEDS AUTHENTICATION: Black Enterprise and NewsOne reported that Uliyahu Hayah was the first Black man taken into federal custody in the January 6 Capitol investigation. The archive has not independently verified that he was the first. It is reported as the outlets stated it. That matters. Not as a talking point. As a fact about who was actually in that crowd. The picture painted on television was not the picture on the ground, and Uliyahu Hayah of Silver Spring, Maryland is one of the reasons the picture does not hold. FACT: Uliyahu Hayah was arrested August 26, 2021, per the U.S. Department of Justice, WJLA and WUSA9. CHARGE ONLY: The government alleged assault on officers during the Capitol breach. That is an allegation, charged by the government. Nothing in this profile should be read as a finding of guilt beyond what a court actually entered. FACT: WUSA9 reported that the conduct alleged against Hayah occurred in the minutes immediately after Ashli Babbitt was shot inside the Capitol. That places him in the single most chaotic corridor of the entire day. DOCUMENTED INFERENCE: The January 20, 2025 clemency action covered federal January 6 cases, and CBS Baltimore reported that dozens of Marylanders charged in the Capitol case were covered. The archive has not separately confirmed the individual disposition on this docket. If you have that paperwork, send it. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE: A charge is a charge. This archive will never upgrade an allegation into a conviction to make a headline. WHAT IT DOES PROVE: Uliyahu Hayah belongs in the record of January 6, and his case complicates the easy version of that day. Show me the evidence. It is right here.
