Trina Reyes was the mayor of Von Ormy, Texas. Sixty-seven years old. A South Bexar County public servant who ran a small city when nobody else wanted the job. Here is the line the headlines skipped. The government's own charging affidavit says that when Trina Reyes saw other people vandalizing property inside the U.S. Capitol, she "immediately walked back out of the U.S. Capitol." That is the government's sentence, in the government's document. ## Who she is Trina Reyes served as mayor of Von Ormy from 2015 to 2017. Von Ormy is a small incorporated city south of San Antonio, the kind of town where the mayor answers the phone herself. Those years were hard ones for the city's budget and its basic survival. She took the seat anyway. ## The legal fight Federal agents arrested Trina Reyes in San Antonio on May 17, 2024. That is more than three years after January 6, 2021. She was charged with four misdemeanors: entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building or grounds; and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. She pleaded NOT GUILTY to every one of them. She never took a deal. On January 27, 2025, the court granted the government's motion to dismiss her case WITH PREJUDICE. With prejudice means it is closed and it cannot be refiled. ## What the record shows FACT: Trina Reyes was never convicted of anything arising from January 6. No plea of guilty. No verdict. No sentence. The federal case against the former mayor of Von Ormy, Texas ended in dismissal with prejudice on January 27, 2025. FACT: Misdemeanors are misdemeanors. Every count filed against Trina Reyes was a misdemeanor. There was no assault charge, no weapons charge, no felony. DOCUMENTED INFERENCE: Her dismissal came one week after the January 20, 2025 presidential clemency action covering January 6 prosecutions, and matches the pattern of pending cases dismissed under Rule 48(a) in that window. ## Case record - Court: U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia - Arrest: May 17, 2024, San Antonio, Texas - Plea: Not guilty, all counts - Disposition: Dismissed with prejudice, January 27, 2025 - Charging document: CourtListener RECAP, docket 272398 Show me the evidence.
