Timothy Wayne Williams is a working man from Trinidad, Colorado, a town of about 8,000 people up against the New Mexico line. He was 39 when the FBI knocked. FACT: Williams told FBI agents he had worked for GrowGeneration, a hydroponics equipment supplier, and that he lost that job because he would not take a COVID-19 test. That is in the affidavit. A man lost his paycheck over a swab, and then lost four more years to a federal case. THEIR ACCOUNT: Williams told agents he did not take part in any violence or property damage, that he "got pushed" inside the building by the crowd, and that he saw other people "tearing things up inside." THE LEGAL FIGHT. FACT: Timothy Wayne Williams was arrested on June 4, 2021 and had his initial appearance the same day. FACT: he was charged in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia with Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds, Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds, Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building or Grounds, Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building, and Theft of Government Property. FACT: Williams pleaded guilty to TWO counts, Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds and Theft of Government Property. FACT: the other charges were dismissed. FACT: on June 21, 2023 he was sentenced to 6 months of incarceration, 12 months of supervised release with 6 months of home confinement, a $50 special assessment, $500 in restitution and 60 hours of community service. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE: Timothy Wayne Williams was never charged with assaulting anyone. No violence count. No weapon count.
