Shawndale Chilcoat is a Celina, Ohio woman whose January 6 case dragged on for two and a half years before the government walked away from it. Here's what the record shows. Chilcoat and her husband Donald came under FBI investigation after tipsters reported Facebook posts, including one in which Chilcoat allegedly wrote that she was "with them" at the Capitol and "couldn't be more proud." THEIR ACCOUNT of Chilcoat's own alleged words, per the FBI affidavit. Investigators say surveillance video shows her inside wearing a black jacket and a navy beanie, and that a video she allegedly sent to others has her saying, "I'm right at the top of the congress ... we're going to show them how they need to vote today." NEEDS AUTHENTICATION as to the full context of that clip. Chilcoat and her husband were arrested together in August 2022, nearly a year and a half after Jan. 6. FACT. She was charged with obstruction of an official proceeding, entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly conduct, entering the floor of Congress, and parading, plus a failure-to-appear count added later. She pleaded not guilty to all of it and the case was headed to a jury trial. Lima and Dayton papers tracked the case for years, through multiple rejected plea offers and delay after delay. On February 3, 2025, the court granted the government's motion to dismiss her case with prejudice. FACT, per the court docket. That means it is over, permanently, with no conviction ever entered against her.
