Shane Jason Woods of Auburn, Illinois owned and ran Auburn Heating and Air Conditioning LLC, a small town HVAC business in a Sangamon County farm community. FACT: The FBI's own filings identify Shane Jason Woods as the owner of Auburn Heating and Air Conditioning LLC. He was a tradesman and a business owner, the man central Illinois families called when the furnace quit in January. THE JANUARY 6 CASE, PLAINLY CHARGE ONLY: Eight counts, including civil disorder and several assault counts. FACT: Woods pleaded guilty on September 9, 2022, to two counts: Striking, Beating, and Wounding within the Territorial Jurisdiction of the United States, and Assaulting, Resisting or Impeding Certain Officers. The other six counts were dismissed. FACT: On October 4, 2023, he was sentenced to 54 months of incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, $2,000 in restitution, and a $125 special assessment. FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency covering the January 6 prosecutions. Shane Jason Woods received a full pardon on the federal January 6 case. A SEPARATE ILLINOIS CASE, STATED PLAINLY This archive does not hide what the record holds, and it does not print half a verdict. FACT: Woods was charged in Sangamon County, Illinois over a 2022 wrong way crash on Interstate 55 in which a woman was killed. FACT: On April 30, 2025, a jury found Shane Woods NOT GUILTY of first degree murder. The jury convicted him of the lesser offense of reckless homicide. FACT: In August 2025 he was sentenced to 17 years in that state case. That is a state prosecution, tried by a state jury, separate from January 6 in every legal way. It is on this page because the record is the record, and because the acquittal on first degree murder belongs right next to the conviction. Anybody who finds one should find the other.
