Ruben Reyna is a Detroit, Michigan man who, when federal agents came to ask him about January 6, sat down and told them the truth. FACT: About a month after January 6, 2021, a tipster contacted the FBI about Ruben Reyna. Agents later interviewed him. THEIR ACCOUNT: In that interview Ruben Reyna acknowledged entering the building and said he had gotten "swept up in the passion of the moment." He did not run and he did not deny it. That admission is in the federal court record of his own case. FACT: A complaint was filed on September 7, 2023, and Ruben Reyna was arrested on September 10, 2023, more than two and a half years after January 6. FACT: He was charged with four counts. All four were misdemeanor or petty offenses. No violence charge. No assault charge. No weapon. No theft. No conspiracy. No property damage. FACT: He pleaded guilty to exactly one count, Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds. FACT: On June 14, 2024, he was sentenced to 14 days of incarceration, 12 months of supervised release, $500 in restitution, and a $25 special assessment. FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency covering the January 6 prosecutions. Ruben Reyna received a full pardon. Fourteen days. That was the whole of it, for a Detroit man who answered the door and answered the questions.
