Ronald Colton McAbee -- "Colt" to the people who love him -- is a Tennessee lawman, a husband, and a son of Williamson County who spent years wearing a badge before January 6, 2021 ever entered his story. Before the headlines, McAbee served as a sheriff's deputy with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee. Law enforcement was his calling. He was on medical leave when he traveled to Washington, D.C. Colt McAbee's wife, Sarah McAbee, never stopped fighting for him. While he was incarcerated she went on to help lead advocacy work supporting the families of January 6 defendants -- turning her own family's hardship into a lifeline for others. When the pardon came, she called it "truth prevailing in the face of adversity." THE LEGAL FIGHT: McAbee was charged in the District of Columbia and, after trial, convicted of multiple felonies including assault and civil disorder; he was sentenced in 2024 to 70 months. He always maintained he also tried to help an officer in the chaos that day. On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted him a full and unconditional pardon, and he walked out of prison. He later called it "the best day of my life other than my wedding." (FACT / THEIR ACCOUNT, per DOJ releases and news coverage.) CASE RECORD: Ronald Colton McAbee, case number 1:21-cr-35, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Arrested August 17, 2021. Fully pardoned January 20, 2025. Charges are charges; the court record stands alongside the pardon. This profile is unclaimed. If this is you -- or your family -- claiming it is free, forever.
