Roger Kent Baugh is a Louisville, Kentucky man who was 51 years old when a federal judge sent him to prison for a year and a day. One count. Civil Disorder. That is the whole conviction. WHAT THE RECORD SHOWS FACT: Roger Kent Baugh of Louisville traveled to Washington with a friend, Mark Andre Mazza, after picking him up at a casino in Ohio. They stayed at an Airbnb, attended the Stop the Steal rally, and walked to the Capitol. FACT: According to his statement of offense, around 3:10 p.m. he moved to the tunnel entrance where officers were defending the building and participated in heave ho efforts to apply physical force against the police line. He pulled back, came in a second time, and left the area around 3:18 p.m. About eight minutes. FACT: Prosecutors say Baugh knew Mazza had brought a gun to Washington but did not know whether Mazza had a license to carry it in D.C. Baugh himself was not charged with any firearm offense. Read that carefully before anyone repeats it wrong: Roger Baugh was not accused of carrying a weapon. GOVERNMENT ACCOUNT: Prosecutors stated that when first interviewed in November 2021 and again in March 2022, Baugh denied entering the tunnel area or participating in the push against officers. He was never separately charged with false statements. This is the government characterization, recorded here because the record should be complete, not because the archive adopts it. THE LEGAL FIGHT FACT: An Information was filed September 20, 2022. Baugh pleaded guilty on October 21, 2022 to a single count of Civil Disorder. FACT: On January 24, 2023, U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg sentenced him to 12 months and one day of incarceration, 24 months of supervised release, a $100 special assessment, and $2,000 restitution. FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump signed the clemency proclamation covering the January 6 prosecutions. Roger Kent Baugh received a full pardon. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE One count. No weapon count. No property damage count. Eight minutes at a tunnel entrance inside a crowd of hundreds cost a 51 year old Kentucky man a year of his life in a federal cell. WHAT IT DOES PROVE The government had his statement of offense, his plea, and his sentence on paper. Then the President of the United States pardoned him in full. Both of those things are the record now. NEEDS AUTHENTICATION We do not have his trade, his service record if he has one, his family, or his church in Jefferson County. We do not have his BOP release date and we do not have one word from Roger Baugh in his own voice. If you know him in Louisville, send it.
