Robert Maurice Reeder is a Harford County, Maryland man who stood in a federal courtroom and told the judge the plain truth about what January 6 cost him. He did not posture. He did not perform. Robert Reeder said out loud in open court what a lot of people in this archive have only said at their own kitchen tables. THEIR ACCOUNT: At sentencing, Reeder told the court the case had left him "radioactive" and had wrecked his working life (WUSA9, Washington, D.C., October 8, 2021). FACT: He pleaded guilty to a single count of parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building, a misdemeanor (U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia; CNN, October 8, 2021). FACT: He was sentenced to three months and ordered to pay $500 in restitution. Judge Thomas F. Hogan allowed him to self report rather than be taken into custody in the courtroom (WUSA9; CNN). FACT: Reeder told the court he is a registered Democrat and not a Trump supporter (Law & Crime). FACT: On January 20, 2025, a presidential proclamation granted clemency in the January 6 cases. Robert Maurice Reeder was arrested in February 2021, which made him one of the earliest January 6 defendants taken into custody and one of the first sentenced. Harford County, Maryland is home.
