Documented editorial-use imageRalph Celentano is a union carpenter from Broad Channel, the small island community in Queens, New York, who built things with his hands until on-the-job injuries ended his career. Broad Channel guy. Union card. A trade, not a title. HIS STORY (FACT, per court filings and Queens press coverage): Ralph Joseph Celentano III spent his working life as a union carpenter in New York City. According to filings his own attorneys put before the court, that career ended when he was hurt on the job. He was 56 at the time of his sentencing and has lived in Broad Channel, a tight-knit Rockaway-adjacent neighborhood where people tend to know each other by name. THE LEGAL FIGHT (FACT, court record): A complaint was filed March 1, 2022, and Ralph Celentano was arrested March 9, 2022, in New York. He did not take a plea. He went to trial, and on June 12, 2023, a jury convicted him of two felonies, assaulting, resisting or impeding officers and civil disorder, plus related misdemeanors. On February 1, 2024, U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Kelly sentenced him to 78 months in prison and 36 months of supervised release. CLEMENCY (FACT): On January 20, 2025, President Trump issued a full, complete and unconditional pardon covering individuals convicted of offenses related to the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. That clemency covered Ralph Celentano, who had been serving one of the longer sentences handed down to a New York defendant.
