Phillip Marion Crawford is a Douglasville, Georgia man his people call Bunky, and when the pardon came through he did not gloat. He said it was a relief. That is the measure of Phillip Crawford. North Georgia, family first, and a man who went in front of an Atlanta television camera and spoke like a neighbor instead of a headline. FACT: Phillip "Bunky" Crawford, 47, of Douglasville, Georgia, was arrested July 12, 2023, on a complaint filed July 7, 2023 (U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia). FACT: He pleaded guilty to six counts, including one felony count of civil disorder and four counts of assaulting police (Atlanta Journal Constitution). FACT: He received a presidential pardon on January 20, 2025, and told 11Alive in Atlanta afterward that it was a relief for him and his family (11Alive, Atlanta). THEIR ACCOUNT: Supporters say Crawford was struck in the head repeatedly by officers while trying to stop the beating of another protester in the Lower West Terrace tunnel. That account comes from advocacy reporting, not from a court finding, and we label it accordingly (The Gateway Pundit, January 2025). FACT: On January 20, 2025, a presidential proclamation granted clemency in the January 6 cases. Douglasville sits west of Atlanta in Douglas County. That is home for Phillip Marion Crawford, and that is where he came back to.
