Payton John Valdez is a Colorado man who went to Washington with his father and came home to face it alongside him. Start there, because that is the part nobody prints. Payton Valdez did not travel to D.C. alone on January 6, 2021. He went with his dad, Daniel. When charges came almost three years later, they came for both of them, and the family stood in it together. FACT: Payton John Valdez, of Aurora, Colorado, was arrested on October 18, 2023, in connection with January 6 (U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia). FACT: He resolved his case by plea agreement in January 2024 to two misdemeanors, disorderly conduct in a restricted building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building (Colorado Newsline, January 18, 2025). FACT: He was sentenced to 60 days and 36 months of probation. No felony conviction (Colorado Newsline). FACT: On January 20, 2025, a presidential proclamation granted clemency in the January 6 cases. Aurora is home. That is where Payton Valdez was living when the knock came, and Colorado is where his people are.
