Oliver Louis Sarko is a Columbus, Ohio man whose own Snapchat account did the talking that got him charged, and whose own guilty plea closed the case. FACT: court documents say Sarko posted videos on January 6, 2021 to his Snapchat account, and at least two people who knew him recognized him and reported it to the FBI. FACT: the videos, taken both inside and outside the Capitol, allegedly include Sarko saying "We are storming the Capitol out here" and "We're in," with law enforcement also identifying him on the building's own surveillance footage. Oliver Sarko was arrested April 30, 2021, in Columbus, one of the earlier arrests in the entire investigation. FACT: he pleaded guilty to a single charge, Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The court sentenced him to 30 days incarceration and 36 months of probation, a short sentence for a case built almost entirely on the defendant's own phone. FACT: on January 20, 2025, Oliver Louis Sarko received a full pardon from President Trump. Oliver Sarko didn't hide behind a lawyer or a denial.
