Nicholas Scott Ingram Hofer did not make anybody kick a door. On August 28, 2024, the 34 year old from Carbon, Indiana walked into the federal courthouse in Indianapolis and surrendered himself. FACT: Nicholas Scott Ingram Hofer, 34, of Carbon in Clay County, Indiana, self surrendered at the federal courthouse in Indianapolis on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. He was not taken at gunpoint. He turned himself in. Source: Indiana news coverage and the Justice Department announcement. CHARGE ONLY: He was charged with assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers and with civil disorder, plus a set of misdemeanors. Those were allegations in a criminal complaint. Nicholas Hofer is presumed innocent of every one of them. FACT: He never pleaded guilty. There was no trial. No jury ever weighed the government's claims and no judge ever found him guilty of anything.
