Nejourde Meacham was a 19-year-old from Pleasant Valley, Utah, when he went to Washington on January 6, 2021, with his uncle Odin Meacham. This profile is written with that in mind. Here's what the record shows. Nejourde was interviewed by law enforcement after his uncle allegedly told agents his nephew was with him at the Capitol that day. Nejourde confirmed he was there but told investigators he never went inside. Surveillance footage allegedly shows him inside the building for about nine minutes before he was escorted out by police. NEEDS AUTHENTICATION as to the full footage; THEIR ACCOUNT as to his own denial. He was charged in the summer of 2023, more than two years after the fact, with entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly conduct, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing. He was arrested August 2, 2023. He had pleaded not guilty and was awaiting further proceedings. Nejourde Meacham died on August 28, 2023, just weeks after his arrest. FACT, per the court docket. He was a young man with his whole life ahead of him, and his family deserves peace. The government asked the court to abate the prosecution because of his death, and the court granted it, closing the case on October 11, 2023. FACT, per the court docket. His case predates the January 20, 2025, mass clemency for January 6 defendants; it was already closed by the time that pardon was issued. A 19-year-old who went with his uncle, told police he stayed outside, and did not live to see how his case would have ended. That is what the record shows. No further speculation belongs here.
