Nathan Thornsberry is a United States Marine and a published author who told his own story before the government tried to tell it for him. Thornsberry served five years in the Marine Corps as an air traffic controller and combat engineer with the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2009. He is a North Branch, Michigan man, Lapeer County. Nathan Thornsberry did not hide what he did on January 6, 2021. He wrote a book about it. In February 2022, he self-published January 6: A Patriot's Story under the pen name Nathaniel Matthews. He revised it into January 6th Redux: A Patriot's Story in March 2023 and promoted it on Facebook, the very thing that led an acquaintance to tip the FBI. A Marine who deployed to Afghanistan, arrested for telling his own story in his own words. A federal grand jury indicted Thornsberry on January 8, 2025. Thirteen days later, on January 21, 2025, the court granted the government's own motion to dismiss the case with prejudice, following President Trump's January 20, 2025 pardon proclamation. Nathan Thornsberry was one of eleven Michigan January 6 defendants whose charges were dismissed outright. His case is over. CASE RECORD U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
