Michael John Dillon was 67 years old, six foot five, and living in Fort Myers, Florida when two tipsters put his name in front of the FBI. Sixty-seven. Retirement age. Southwest Florida. A man tall enough that the government's own affidavit used his height as the identifying feature, because there was nothing else remarkable about him on that video. FACT. Michael John Dillon of Fort Myers, Florida was charged in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. A complaint was filed February 7, 2023. He was charged in case 1:23-mj-32. FACT. Agents interviewed him at his own home in Fort Myers within weeks of January 6, 2021. He did not run. He did not hide. He talked to them at his kitchen door, and according to the FBI's own statement of facts he told them he went to support President Trump and that he did not hurt anyone and did not damage property. CHARGE ONLY. The government alleged he climbed through a window near the Senate Wing Door at about 2:50 p.m. and stood in the crowd there for roughly five minutes before leaving. Five minutes. That is the government's own timeline, in the government's own filing. FACT. Dillon pleaded guilty to one count, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds. Every other charge was dismissed. On May 16, 2024 he was sentenced to 45 days incarceration, 12 months of supervised release, a $25 special assessment and $500 in restitution. FACT. On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency covering the January 6 prosecutions. Michael John Dillon received a full pardon. DATA CORRECTION. This archive previously showed this case frozen at Complaint filed 2/7/23 and nothing after. That was wrong, and it made a closed case look open for two years. The disposition on this page is now current through the pardon. What the record shows: a 67-year-old Fort Myers man, five minutes inside a building, 45 days, and a full pardon. What the record does not show: forty-plus working years. His trade. His service. His family. Nobody wrote it down, and Michael John Dillon deserves better than a height measurement from a driver's license file.
