Menachem Cohen is a Brooklyn, New York man charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol. Here's what the record shows. The FBI interviewed Cohen multiple times near his Brooklyn home. According to the bureau's statement of facts, he admitted being inside the Capitol on January 6 and identified himself in video and photos he had taken himself, including footage of broken glass at the Senate Wing Door and a red "Trump" hat placed on a bust of George Washington. FACT, per the FBI statement of facts. No violence or property destruction by Cohen himself is alleged in that document. He was arrested November 21, 2022, nearly two years after the fact. He was charged with entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing. Cohen pleaded guilty to one count, parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. The other three charges were dismissed. On June 12, 2023, he was sentenced to 36 months of probation, 60 hours of community service, and $500 in restitution, plus a $10 special assessment. FACT, per the court docket. On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted Cohen a full pardon covering the January 6 prosecutions. FACT. This archive found no confirmed public reporting on Cohen's occupation or family beyond the federal case file, and it will not guess. What the record shows is a misdemeanor plea, probation completed without incident as far as the public docket shows, and a pardon.
