Matthew Valentin is a Stroudsburg man out of Monroe County, Pennsylvania, in the Poconos - and he went to Washington on January 6, 2021 with his own brother, Andrew, at his side. Two brothers from the same Pennsylvania town, in the same case, on the same docket, for four years. (FACT - WNEP, DOJ press releases.) Whatever else is in this file, that part is a family story. Matthew Valentin became known in open-source video as "Matthew from MAGAsylvania," a nickname he gave himself. (FACT - WUSA9, DOJ.) He never hid who he was or where he came from. THE LEGAL FIGHT. Matthew Valentin, 31, of Stroudsburg, was charged along with his brother with assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers. On September 26, 2024 he pleaded guilty to two felony counts under 18 U.S.C. 111. His plea agreement carried an estimated guideline range of 27 to 33 months, and U.S. District Judge Reggie B. Walton set sentencing for January 17, 2025. (FACT - DOJ press releases; WUSA9; Daily Voice.) Three days later, on January 20, 2025, the January 6 clemency proclamation issued full pardons for offenses connected to the events at or near the Capitol. (FACT - White House proclamation.) Three days. That is how close the timing ran for Matthew Valentin and his brother. CASE RECORD. U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Pleaded guilty September 26, 2024 to two counts of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers. Sentencing set January 17, 2025. Pardoned January 20, 2025.
