Matthew Eugene Loganbill is a Missouri gun shop owner, a farm kid out of a family of nine, a husband to his high school sweetheart, and a grandfather eleven times over. Grew up on a rural Missouri farm. One of nine children. Married the girl he went to high school with. Four kids. Eleven grandkids. Built a business out of it, Tooth and Nail Armory, in the Lake of the Ozarks country around Versailles and Gravois Mills. (FACT, as reported by the Kansas City Star and KSHB.) His own attorneys put it to a federal judge in five words. "He is a grandpa, not a felon." (FACT, quoted in the Kansas City Star.) THE LEGAL FIGHT Matthew Loganbill was arrested March 29, 2021 and made his first appearance April 2, 2021. He was indicted that August. He did not take a plea. He went to trial. FACT: At an October 28, 2022 hearing, investigators acknowledged there was no evidence that Mr. Loganbill engaged in any violence inside the Capitol. (KSHB.) FACT: On August 16, 2023, a federal judge dismissed all charges against him, finding the government had blown through the 70 day clock and violated his rights under the Speedy Trial Act. (KSHB, Lake Expo, KOMU.) FACT: On November 16, 2023, ABC17 reported that the Morgan County man by that name was found guilty at trial.
