Matthew Honigford is a former Ohio National Guard member from Delphos, a small farming town on the Allen and Van Wert county line in northwest Ohio. Before any of this, Matthew Honigford wore the uniform of the National Guard - the force your neighbors call when the river comes up or the tornado comes through. (FACT - Epoch Times, HNGN, and Ohio local reporting on his arrest.) Delphos is a town of a few thousand people. Everybody there knows the Honigford name. That is who he was before he was a federal case. THE LEGAL FIGHT. Matthew Honigford, 31, was arrested in November 2023 and charged with two counts of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers and one count of civil disorder, along with related misdemeanors. He pleaded guilty to a felony count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan to 19 months in prison, 24 months of supervised release, and $2,000 in restitution. (FACT - DOJ press releases; 13abc, WTOL, Lima News/AOL.) On January 20, 2025, the January 6 clemency proclamation issued full pardons for offenses connected to the events at or near the Capitol. (FACT - White House proclamation.) Matthew Honigford was arrested nearly three years after January 6, 2021. Guard veterans from Delphos, Ohio do not usually spend three years waiting for a knock. He did. CASE RECORD.
