Mason Porter is a United States Army veteran from Rittman, Ohio, a Wayne County town of about six thousand people. FACT: Sentencing memoranda filed in his federal case establish that Mason Porter served in the U.S. Army. Cleveland coverage of his sentencing identified him the same way, in the headline: a Rittman Army veteran. He raised his right hand. He wore the uniform. That happened before any of this, and no docket entry erases it. THEIR ACCOUNT: In an interview with FBI agents more than a year after January 6, 2021, Porter told them he had been inside the Capitol and that he realized once he was inside that it was wrong. He said that to federal agents himself, before any plea deal was on the table. That is a veteran telling the truth when lying would have been easier. FACT: Court records say he was inside the building for a little more than twenty minutes. THE CASE, PLAINLY CHARGE ONLY: Four counts, every one tied to entering and remaining. No assault count. No weapon count. No destruction count. Not one. FACT: Mason Porter pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors, Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building and Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The other charges were dismissed. FACT: On January 8, 2025, he was sentenced to 24 months of probation with conditions, $500 in restitution, and a $20 special assessment. No prison. Not one day. FACT: Twelve days later, on January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency covering the January 6 prosecutions. Mason Porter received a full pardon. Arrested February 2, 2024, in Rittman, Ohio. Pardoned less than a year later. An Army veteran, home, with the record cleared. THE CASE RECORD Case 1:24-cr-00187-TJK, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. FACT: this case number is read directly off the caption of the native federal court filing, which reads UNITED STATES OF AMERICA v. MASON PORTER. That filing is linked below. NEEDS AUTHENTICATION: Mason Porter's branch service dates, unit, and civilian trade are not in any public source this archive can verify. Veterans deserve their record stated right.
