Mark Roger Rebegila is a Kansan. St. Marys, Kansas, a town of a few thousand people in Pottawatomie County, about half an hour from Topeka. He was 32 years old when he stood up in a federal courtroom and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. Here is the part of Mark Rebegila's record that almost nobody reports. FACT: Before he went inside, Rebegila asked a police officer if he could enter the Capitol. The officer shrugged. That is not a rumor. That is in the FBI's own charging affidavit. A plea agreement was entered December 1, 2021 and he pleaded guilty to Count 4 only, the petty offense of parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency covering the January 6 prosecutions. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE: an officer's shrug is not legal authorization, and no court has ever said it was. What it does prove is that the man asked.
