Marilyn Fassell is a Largo, Florida woman out of Pinellas County who went to Washington with her husband and came home to a federal case. She and Thomas Fassell went together. They walked in together. They were charged together. They answered for it together. That is a marriage. In a country that quits on everything, that is worth saying out loud. Here is what the record shows. FACT: A complaint was filed September 9, 2021, eight months after January 6. FACT: Marilyn Fassell was arrested September 15, 2021. FACT: An information was filed November 19, 2021 charging entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building, violent entry and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building, and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. FACT: On July 19, 2022 she pleaded guilty to the parading, demonstrating, or picketing count. That is a misdemeanor. The other three counts were dismissed. FACT: On December 9, 2022 Marilyn Fassell was sentenced to 30 days incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, and $500 restitution. Thirty days. One misdemeanor. Three counts gone. DOCUMENTED INFERENCE: A defendant advocacy review of the surveillance record describes the Fassells moving peacefully with the crowd through the Rotunda. That is a summary of video, not a finding of the court. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE: Marilyn Fassell was never charged with assaulting anyone. She was never charged with damaging anything. She was never charged with carrying a weapon. Not one count in her case alleged violence. WHAT IT DOES PROVE: a Florida wife walked into a building, walked back out, and the federal government spent two years and a supervised release term on it. FACT: On January 20, 2025, the presidential proclamation granted pardons for offenses relating to the events at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.
