Luke Michael Lints is a Traverse City, Michigan man who was 28 years old when he stood up in a Washington courtroom. He went to Washington on January 6, 2021 with his mother. That detail matters, and it is in the court file. FACT: court documents record that Lints' mother was hospitalized after a medical incident while they were walking toward the Capitol, and that she did not know where her son was or what he did while she was gone. FACT: she told the FBI that when they got back home to northern Michigan, her son "appeared scared because of what he had done" and would not talk to her about it. A 28 year old kid from Traverse City, separated from his mother in a crowd, who came home scared and silent. That is a human being, not a headline. THE LEGAL FIGHT. FACT: Luke Michael Lints was arrested on June 30, 2022 after a complaint was filed June 24, 2022. FACT: he was charged in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia with Civil Disorder, Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon, Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon, Engaging in Physical Violence in a Restricted Building or Grounds with a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon, Impeding Passage Through the Capitol Grounds or Buildings, and an Act of Physical Violence in the Capitol Grounds or Buildings. FACT: on March 25, 2023 Lints pleaded guilty to ONE count, Civil Disorder. FACT: every other charge was dismissed. FACT: on May 26, 2023 he was sentenced to 4 months of incarceration, 36 months of supervised release, 4 months of location monitoring, a $100 special assessment and $2,000 in restitution. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE: the "deadly or dangerous weapon" counts against Luke Lints were dropped. He never pleaded to them and was never convicted of them. Four months is not four years, and a dismissed count is not a conviction. FACT: on January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency covering the January 6 prosecutions. Luke Michael Lints received a full pardon. CASE RECORD. Case 1:22-mj-146, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
