He sustained injuries when the Humvee he was riding in was attacked during his deployment to Iraq. That service record went into the file his defense put in front of a federal judge. HIS STORY (THEIR ACCOUNT): After the Army, Denney organized a North Texas group he called the Patriot Boys. He has said publicly that the years after January 6 cost him nearly everything he had built, and that he is rebuilding from zero. THE LEGAL FIGHT (FACT, court record): A complaint was filed December 7, 2021, and Denney was arrested December 13, 2021. He was indicted March 7, 2022, and pleaded guilty March 17, 2022, to assaulting an officer with a dangerous weapon. On September 28, 2022, U.S. District Judge Randolph Moss sentenced him to 52 months in prison and three years of supervised release. His months in pretrial detention before an indictment was returned became a point of contention in the docket itself. CLEMENCY (FACT): On January 20, 2025, President Trump issued a full, complete and unconditional pardon covering individuals convicted of offenses related to the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
