Lin Marie Carey
January 6 defendant
Lin Marie Carey is a Naples, Florida woman who paid $115 for a seat on an overnight bus to hear a speech — and more than three years later found the FBI at her door. FACT: Lin Marie Carey, then 56, of Naples, rode a charter bus from Southwest Florida that arrived in Washington at 4 a.m. on January 6, 2021, after she heard about the trip in a local Facebook group (WGCU; WUSF). She entered the Capitol through the East Side doors wearing scuba goggles; the government's own filings describe her wandering the halls looking for a bathroom — and politely asking a Capitol Police officer to point her toward one (Fox 4). The legal fight: Carey was arrested February 28, 2024, in Naples and charged with obstruction of an official proceeding (a felony) plus misdemeanor entry and disorderly-conduct counts. Charges are charges — none of it was ever proven, and no violence or property destruction was alleged against her. On January 20, 2025, the presidential clemency proclamation directed dismissal with prejudice of pending January 6 cases like hers. Lin Marie Carey was never convicted of anything. Case record: charged February 2024; January 6 prosecutions were brought in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. This profile is unclaimed. If this is you — or your family — claiming it is free, forever.
