Klete Derik Keller is a five time Olympic medalist out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Two of those medals are gold. He swam for the United States of America on the biggest stage there is, and when the swimming was over he went to work in commercial real estate in his own hometown. Most people never get one Olympic medal. Klete Keller got five. FACT: Keller was sentenced on December 1, 2023 by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon to three years of probation, six months of home detention, and 360 hours of community service. Prosecutors had asked for ten months in federal prison. The court went well below that, and the government itself credited nearly three years of cooperation with investigators. I will accept my punishment with humility and serve my sentence in peace." He also said, "As a former member of the United States Olympic Swimming Team, my behavior set a terrible example for young people who looked up to me." (Colorado Sun) FACT: Keller resigned from Hoff and Leigh, the Colorado Springs commercial real estate firm where he worked, after the charges came down. The firm later hired him back.
