Kevin Sam Blakely — McKinney, Texas. He was 55. FACT: Kevin was never accused of violence. Reporting on his case is explicit about it: he was not accused of participating in the violence at the riot. No weapon. No assault. No property damage. FACT: What the government had on him was a phone. GPS and Google location data placed his device inside the building from 2:45 p.m. to 4:38 p.m., and a sweatshirt in a Facebook photo matched a man on video. That is the case. FACT: The felony-level counts were dismissed. He pleaded guilty to one thing: parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. A misdemeanor. The lowest count on the board. FACT: On 7/14/22 Judge Emmet G. Sullivan sentenced him to 120 days, 18 months of probation, $500 restitution, and 100 hours of community service. FACT: He received a full pardon on January 20, 2025. One hundred hours of community service, at 55 years old, for walking through a building. He did them. Kevin is a North Texas man with a life that existed long before a GPS ping and exists after it. Somebody in McKinney knows what he built, who he raised, who he showed up for. Right now this page does not. That is fixable.
