Karegan Bostic is a working woman from Chesapeake, Virginia who went to Washington with her dad and her sister and walked into the Capitol beside them. A family from Hampton Roads. A father and two daughters. All three charged with misdemeanors. FACT: Karegan Bostic is from Chesapeake, Virginia. She is the daughter of Willard Thomas Bostic Jr. and the sister of Meghan Rutledge, both charged in the same matter (WTKR; WAVY). FACT: She was charged with four misdemeanor counts: entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building (WTKR; DOJ; charging documents archived by the GWU Program on Extremism). FACT: Federal agents interviewed her at her workplace (WTKR). She was employed at the time. THEIR ACCOUNT: Karegan Bostic told agents she walked into the Capitol with her father and her sister, walked around, and walked out. She said she saw no violent activity and believed they had been set up when she later learned what happened (WTKR, reporting on court documents). FACT: Her father pleaded guilty in October 2022 and received three years of probation. Karegan pleaded guilty on October 31, 2022 (WAVY; DOJ). THE FAMILY AND THE FIGHT This is a Chesapeake family. A dad and his two grown daughters. No felony counts. No assault counts. The government charged all three with the same petty offenses and the whole family carried it together. FACT: On January 20, 2025 the President issued a proclamation granting clemency in cases relating to the events at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.
