Joshua Colgan is a Mainer from Jefferson, a small town in Lincoln County, midcoast Maine. One misdemeanor. Everything else dropped. That is what the government was left holding after two years. When the Bangor Daily News and WABI covered this case, they covered it the way Maine papers cover a neighbor, by name and by town. Josh Colgan is a midcoast Maine man, and the people who know him know a lot more than four counts on a docket sheet. THE LEGAL FIGHT The record, plainly. [FACT, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, case 1:22-cr-224.] Complaint filed April 29, 2022. Arrested May 2, 2022. Pleaded guilty January 9, 2023 to parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building, a misdemeanor. Three other misdemeanor counts were dismissed under the agreement: entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building. [FACT] Sentenced April 25, 2023 to three years of probation, 28 days of intermittent confinement, three months of home detention and $500 in restitution. No felony. No assault charge. Charges are charges, and the ones that stuck were the smallest on the board. JANUARY 20, 2025 On January 20, 2025, President Donald J. Trump issued clemency covering the January 6 cases.
