Joseph Cable Barnes was an Austin, Texas real estate professional -- a working man in his thirties building a career in one of Texas's fastest-growing cities. His January 6 case never reached a verdict, and it never will: Joseph Barnes died in the summer of 2021, still presumed innocent. Joseph Cable Barnes made his life and his living in Austin, Texas, in the real estate business. He was 35 years old. THE LEGAL FIGHT: Barnes was charged in the District of Columbia with obstruction and several misdemeanor counts, and in March 2021 he pleaded not guilty to all five charges. He was free, awaiting trial, and had conceded nothing. Before his case could ever be tried, Joseph Barnes was killed in a motorcycle collision in Austin in June 2021. Under the law, a criminal case ends when the accused dies before judgment -- so Joseph Cable Barnes leaves this world with no conviction against his name, only charges that were never proven. (FACT, per DOJ records and news coverage.) CASE RECORD: Joseph Cable Barnes of Austin, Texas, charged in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia; pleaded not guilty March 2021. Charges are charges -- and these were never proven. His case ended with his passing. This profile is unclaimed. If this is you -- or your family -- claiming it is free, forever.
