Jonathan Munafo spent much of 2020 on the road. He was one of the travelers reporters nicknamed the Front Row Joes, supporters who drove state to state and camped overnight to be first through the doors at rallies. [FACT, WUSA9 and NBC News] Whatever you make of that, understand what it took. Long hauls, sleeping in vehicles, showing up over and over on his own dime. Jonathan Munafo is a New York man who later lived in Orlando, Florida, and he was one of the most committed rally travelers in the country. He drove to Washington from Florida on little to no sleep. [FACT, WUSA9] By the time he reached the Capitol he had been awake and on the road for the better part of a day. THE LEGAL FIGHT Jonathan Munafo was arrested April 23, 2021 in Orlando, with his initial appearance April 26, 2021. He was indicted April 28, 2021, arraigned May 11, 2021, and pleaded not guilty to all counts. [FACT, DOJ] He was held in custody. In March 2023 he reached a plea agreement, and in April 2023 he pleaded guilty to felony counts of civil disorder and assaulting a Metropolitan Police Department officer. [FACT, DOJ and ClickOrlando] On September 22, 2023 he was sentenced to 33 months in prison. [FACT, NBC News and ClickOrlando] That is the record as entered. Charges are charges, a plea is a plea, and this page does not stretch either one. THE CLEMENCY On January 20, 2025, a presidential proclamation granted full pardons for offenses related to events at or near the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, covering these convictions.
