John Hubert Getsinger Jr.
Pardoned January 6 defendant
John Hubert Getsinger Jr. is a Hanahan man out of Berkeley County, South Carolina. Lowcountry born. A husband who drove to Washington with his wife and came home to a federal case. He is not a headline. He is a working man from a small city outside Charleston. He and his wife, Stacie Hargis-Getsinger, were charged together, and they walked through the whole thing together. Same courtroom. Same day. Same sentence. WHAT THE RECORD SHOWS FACT: Both pleaded guilty in December 2021, per the Post and Courier and Charleston's ABC News 4. FACT: Both were sentenced on July 12, 2022 to 60 days, per WIS-TV and ABC News 4. FACT: John Hubert Getsinger Jr. was arrested June 15, 2021 and remained on personal recognizance the entire case. No pretrial detention. He went to work. He went home. He showed up when the court told him to. THEIR ACCOUNT: At sentencing, WIS-TV reported the couple told the court, "We brought this on ourselves." Read that again. No blame shifting. No excuses. A husband and wife from Hanahan stood up in a federal courtroom in Washington, D.C. and owned it. That is more accountability than most of the people who covered them have ever shown. THE LEGAL FIGHT Charges, per the DOJ record: Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building; Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building; Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct; Parading, Demonstrating or Picketing in a Capitol Building. He entered a plea agreement December 2, 2021 and pleaded guilty to count 4. He was sentenced July 12, 2022 to 60 days in jail, three years of probation, 100 hours of community service, and $500 restitution. FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency covering the January 6 prosecutions. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE: Nothing in this profile establishes anything beyond the charges the DOJ filed and the plea the court accepted. Charges are charges. The record is the record.
