John M. Cameron is a licensed Washington State real estate broker and a journeyman carpenter out of Port Orchard, and he has spent the better part of a decade helping other people stay sober. FACT, from his own memorandum in aid of sentencing filed in case 1:22-CR-17: John Cameron is a real estate agent and licensed broker in Washington State and has served as a managing broker with a real estate firm in Lacey, Washington since May 2021. He has specialized training in commercial construction and journeyman carpenter experience. He builds things and he sells them. That is a trade and a business, both earned. FACT, same filing: Cameron has been active in Alcoholics Anonymous since 2016 and serves on the board of the Pierce County, Washington chapter. Read that plainly. Since 2016 he has been the man in the room helping somebody else stay standing. FACT: he is married with two children at home. This archive does not publish minors. FACT: his own filing states he also served as a foster parent to a neighborhood child. A man who took in a kid who needed a place to be. FACT: his cousin wrote to the court that John Cameron is "supportive of others and very generous," a man who overcame significant life challenges and became an "amazing parent." His wife described him as a supportive, caring and loving dad. FACT: his criminal history consists of minor offenses from twenty five to thirty five years earlier, and nothing at all since January 6, 2021. THE LEGAL FIGHT FACT: initially filed as case 1:21-mj-00690. Complaint filed December 10, 2021. FACT: arrested January 5, 2022. FACT: superseding information filed March 29, 2022. He pleaded guilty May 4, 2022 to one Class C misdemeanor, parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building, 40 U.S.C. 5104(e)(2)(G). FACT: his filing asked the court for six months of probation and community service. FACT: on August 15, 2022 he was sentenced to 36 months of probation including 30 days of intermittent confinement, a $1,000 fine, and $500 restitution. FACT: on January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency covering the January 6 prosecutions. WHAT THIS DOES NOT PROVE: it does not undo the plea. WHAT IT DOES PROVE: a carpenter, broker, foster parent and recovery volunteer from Kitsap County, Washington pleaded to the lowest count on the books and carried three years of federal probation for it.
