Jerod Thomas Bargar is a 37 year old man from Centralia, Missouri, a small town in mid-Missouri. Here is the sentence that tells you everything about his case. Five years probation. Six months at home. No prison. WHAT THE RECORD ACTUALLY SAYS FACT: Jerod Bargar carried a holstered 9mm pistol to Washington on January 6, 2021, and dropped it outside the U.S. Capitol. Law enforcement found the gun on the ground in a "We the People" holster. FACT: He never drew it. He never pointed it. He never fired it. He never brandished it at anyone. The record is that he lost it. FACT: ATF traced the holster through a Jefferson City pawn shop to identify him. He was arrested August 3, 2022, after a complaint filed July 29, 2022. FACT: On June 8, 2023, Bargar pleaded guilty to one felony count of entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon. FACT: On January 11, 2024, U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton sentenced him to five years of probation, six months of home confinement, and a 4,000 dollar fine. Judge Walton is not a soft judge. He gave Jerod Bargar no prison at all. FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump issued clemency covering January 6 cases. Read the disposition again. A federal judge who heard all of it decided this Centralia, Missouri man belonged at home, not in a cell. Having a firearm is not drawing one. Dropping a firearm is not pointing one. The record does not lie, and the record here says he dropped it and walked away.
