Jeffrey Munger is a Goshen man. Elkhart County, northern Indiana, Amish country, RV plants and cornfields. He went to Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, and what the government put in front of a judge was photographs. A man in a black hooded coat, holding up a phone, taking pictures of the inside of a building. (FACT, per the charging affidavit as reported by the Goshen News and WNDU.) The timestamp the FBI pulled was about 2:50 p.m. The evidence was his own camera roll, pulled out of a Gmail account on a search warrant. No weapon. No assault charge. No officer laid a hand on. A guy from Goshen, Indiana taking pictures. THE LEGAL FIGHT FACT: Complaint filed March 15, 2022. Arrested March 23, 2022. More than fourteen months after January 6. FACT: Jeffrey Munger pleaded guilty on May 20, 2022. FACT: On October 21, 2022, he was sentenced to 30 months of probation, 60 hours of community service, and $500 in restitution. No jail time. Not a day. That sentence tells you what the court actually thought it was looking at. FACT: On January 20, 2025, President Trump granted clemency covering the January 6 prosecutions.
