Jeff McKellop gave the Army more than 20 years of his life. FACT: McKellop retired in 2010 after serving with the 2nd Ranger Battalion and the 3rd Special Forces Group — a Green Beret with three Bronze Stars, as reported by Army Times. After retiring he worked as a military contractor, including work supporting U.S. government agencies. Home was Fishersville, Virginia. His January 6 case was one of the hardest-fought on the docket. He was charged with 16 felony counts, including assaulting officers. Charges are charges — McKellop pleaded not guilty and spent years fighting the case, much of it from pretrial detention after being denied bond in March 2021 (FACT: Army Times, WUSA9). The case never ended in a jury verdict against him. Following the January 20, 2025 presidential clemency covering January 6 cases, a federal judge dismissed the charges against McKellop with prejudice — meaning they can never be brought again (FACT: reported in coverage of pardoned Special Forces veterans).
